GIZMATRIX™ TEST RANGE · AIR DOMAIN
The Gizmatrix Test Range at Camp Tahuaya.
A range designed to test unmanned aircraft in shared low-altitude airspace.
Surveillance & alerting
The Gizmatrix
Gizmatrix is the airspace surveillance and alerting platform designed for this range, an Onward Network product, described in full at gizmatrix.com.

A module-by-module progression from FAA Part 107 fundamentals to flight under real-world stressors. Gizmat training, including Dynamic Awareness™, is delivered by the Digital Service Academy, an Onward Network initiative, at digitalservice.academy.

Camp Tahuaya is planned to host the range's Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) testing sandbox: one physical and virtual campus where ground-based radar and edge-compute nodes will be installed.
It is where the range's evidence will be collected. Flights at Camp Tahuaya will produce the performance data described under FAA Compliance below.

01 · OPERATING AREA
Picket nodes ring a Class G operating area, surface to 400 ft AGL.
- 01 Operating area Picket nodes ring a Class G operating area, surface to 400 ft AGL.
- 02 Remote ID Remote ID identifies an aircraft and its operator. It is not a source for navigation or separation.
- 03 Non-cooperative An aircraft that broadcasts nothing still appears, from ground-based surveillance, marked unidentified.
- 04 Advisory Gizmatrix alerts the pilot with an advisory. It informs a decision and gives no instruction.
- 05 RPIC decides The remote pilot in command “is directly responsible for and is the final authority as to the operation” (14 CFR 107.19(b)).
Built on FAA compliance.
BASELINE
Standard Remote ID (14 CFR Part 89) transmitted on every flight, ADS-B ingest for crewed traffic, and Part 107 certificated crews.
Airspace: Class G, surface to 400 ft AGL.
14 CFR 107.31
BVLOS evidence
A planned ground-based radar array will collect detect-and-avoid evidence.
Detail: BVLOS evidence
A planned Ground-Based Surveillance System, a 3-node radar array, will detect cooperative and non-cooperative ("dark") traffic, producing the detect-and-avoid evidence intended to support a waiver of visual line of sight.
Independent validation
Third-party review
A 6-phase test plan, to be independently reviewed.
Detail: Third-party review
A 6-Phase Validation and Test Plan is in preparation, to be independently reviewed so that the performance data offered in waiver submissions carries objective verification.
Operational governance
Data agreements
uas.city will act as a supplemental data provider only.
Detail: Data agreements
Structured data-flow agreements will establish uas.city purely as a supplemental data provider, augmenting rather than replacing the Pilot in Command. Municipal Remote Pilots in Command retain final authority for every operation, as 14 CFR 107.19 requires.
The remote pilot in command “is directly responsible for and is the final authority as to the operation”
Evidence will be collected at Camp Tahuaya.

Glossary
The vocabulary the range runs on, and what each term means in practice.
- Dynamic Awareness™
- Dimensional situational awareness for an aircraft or drone relative to everything around it. A control tower sees the whole picture on radar; a pilot sees only what their eyes catch. Dynamic Awareness gives the aircraft, crewed or not, a real-time positional picture of itself within the airspace.
- Gizmatrix™
- The airspace surveillance and alerting platform designed for the range, an Onward Network product.
